It's not my birthday or any of the family's birthday....
It's not our anniversary....
It's not my first day of work (that's tomorrow)....
It's officially huricane season in the Atlantic. This is something new for our family. While we don't really want to see a hurricane visit us, it's an exciting time as we have never lived anywhere with the potential of a hurricane.
Here is the list of names for the storms in the Atlantic this year. Any guesses on how many we'll get through?

Although we've been told it's "rare" for a hurricane to affect the area where we live, we don't to be unprepared in the event that one does decide to drop by. We have been gathering our supplies for our hurricane kit. We'll keep you updated on how the season goes.

We found that the most effective way to find out if you have everything you need is to have an unexpected power outage that lasts for hours! That seemed to happen for us at just the right times! So, I'd suggest having a night where you pretend the power is OUT. Then, you must have the right TYPE of batteries to fit the lantern, battery powered weather radios, etc. etc. You REALLY know what you need and would use. :0) Anyway, that's just how it worked for us. We never used our kit for a hurricane, but we did use it for a few power outages! Happy kitting. They do make a hurricane guide; I think you can get them at Publix!?!
