Feeling Accomplished

I feel like this week has been a success. I finished the baby blanket I was working on, made a hat to match, got them mailed off, and even mailed off another package (with two knitted hats)that was supposed to be mailed months ago. Today, I got a text with pictures of the hats that should have been sent so long ago and the good news is they FIT!!!

To Post or Not to Post

As I was flipping through a magazine lately I came across this ad. I immeditately smiled and laughed. Because you see, I'm married to someone very much like the picture. I must agree "ideas are sexy too."

Do you think his wife saw him this way?

The Waiting Game

You know, I'm not a real big fan of waiting. If you know me well, you know I'm not very patient. I guess that's why I'm having a hard time dealing with my father's illness. I don't like to talk much about it and a few people know that I'm just pushing it down, but I don't what else to do. Talking to him each day is difficult, as he is so drugged up and sometimes not very lucid. His siblings have either called or visited as have many friends. My personal family was able to say good-bye while we were home for Christmas. It saddens me to know that the next time I go home he probably won't be there. I don't know how my mom will handle it. So, now that people have said goodbye, the game has begun. The Waiting Game that is.

Planes, Planes, and Baptism

I really thought that when I started blogging I would post each day or close to it. This time there has been a 5 day gap. (gasp) For good reason though... Friday, after dropping the girls off with some very brave and gracious friends, the dh and I were heading to Conneticut to for our God son's baptism. However, we ended up spending the night in Detroit. After making it to Hartford we spent a wonderful 28 hours with our dear friends, including a trip a local yarn shop (where I picked up Flat Feet). It really didn't feel like 2 years since we had last seen them. The baptism went off without a hitch. Our God sons are two wonderful boys. We really, really enjoyed spending time with them and all their family. It felt so natural to be celebrating with them. We were able to get home without incident. Once home on Sunday, it occured to me that we had been on a plane three days in a row. A side bennefit to this is that I did get a great deal of knitting done on planes.

Intentions

I had every intention of posting yesterday. Yet, I got distracted with SNOW. And lots of it!!! Maybe it's having been raised in the desert, but I'm not always the biggest fan of snow. This year however, is different. I am loving the snow we have and are getting. Perhaps it's because I KNOW that next year and the next few years we won't have snow where we will live. Maybe I'm trying to get my fill of it now. And the girls too. I want them to enjoy it while they can.

Resolutions

It's the time of year (plus or minus a week) when people make resolutions for the future. I don't usually make them as I don't usually follow them. However, this year I'm giving it a shot.

Run 2 or more Half Marathons

Knit from stash (buying some fresh yarn on occasion)

Read a few books for pleasure (probably not once school starts)

Stamp and actually send some birthday cards

That should be plenty. We'll see if I can keep up with it.

I love the look of this yarn when it's wound up. It looks like a gobstopper.

First Post

So, I decided to try my hand at blogging. This I guess would be my first post.
