Looooooong Weekend

Although the weekend technically started today for most folks, ours started yesterday!  We went to Blizzard Beach in Orlando with a group of 15 of us total.  It was a blast.  We opened it and closed it!  The girls were so well behaved.  (I don't have pics yet as I used a disposable waterproof camera and need to get it developed.  How did we ever live before digital?)

We ate dinner last night at Chipotle.  A big treat since there isn't one close to us.  An even bigger treat was after eating 3 tacos and some chips Rori lost her first tooth (with an assist from Daddy).

Today, has been a day of relaxation as we are recovering from yesterday's events.  We watched Germany whoop up on Argentina in the World Cup and watched the prologue of the Tour de France while I knit a yellow sock.  Coincidence? Nope, I figured yellow was appropriate for the Tour.

Soon, we will be off to watch some fireworks with our friends.  And the weekend is only half over.

Guess what today is.....

It's not my birthday or any of the family's birthday....

It's not our anniversary....

It's not my first day of work (that's tomorrow)....

It's officially huricane season in the Atlantic.  This is something new for our family.  While we don't really want to see a hurricane visit us, it's an exciting time as we have never lived anywhere with the potential of a hurricane.

Here is the list of names for the storms in the Atlantic this year.  Any guesses on how many we'll get through?

2010 Hurricane Names
Alex
Bonnie
Colin
Danielle
Earl
Fiona
Gaston
Hermine
Igor
Julia
Karl

This pic is actually from NASA of Hurricane Floyd in 1999.

Although we've been told it's "rare" for a hurricane to affect the area where we live, we don't to be unprepared in the event that one does decide to drop by.  We have been gathering our supplies for our hurricane kit.  We'll keep you updated on how the season goes.

Fun Friday

So, with Sedona being home since Tuesday, she and I both had a bit of Cabin Fever.  Our plan was to bust out and do something fun.  We picked up Rori from "school" and hit the town, or at least the local pizza joint.  Our friends, Shaun and Anna recommend it.  On our way in we spoted this sticker.
Any friend of Smiley's must have good grub.  The girls got some special treats with dinner and maybe had some fun.

After dinner, we decided to check the marina and see if there were any manatees hanging out.
We were just about to leave when Neal and the girls spotted a couple.
It took Neal quite awhile to get these pics.  We aren't sure who was checking out who.
Rori was so sure that the manatee was going to come up and bust through the dock and knock us all into the water.  She ended up going up on to the grass close by and sitting at a table waiting for us.  Poor thing.  And she hasn't even seen Jaws yet.

I guess it's time to finish...

I got some fresh yarn last week and was ready to wind it and knit with it.  However,  I haven't unpacked my switft and winder yet.  After winding the yarn by hand, I am motivated to finish unpacking.

I also wasn't able to find my Oh-snap bags.  So, I repurposed one of the kid's Subway bags.

I love my Donut!

Today was the big day.  The day that The Donut got her tonsils out.  She was ready and excited.  I'm very glad she wasn't scared.  I'm not sure my heart could have handled that.  We read books to her while we waited for the Dr.
When we got home she wanted to sleep in her bed.  After she woke up she was ready for a treat. She asked me how many calories were in the treat.  I told her 60 calories.  She responded with, "mmm I love 60 calories".
Then, it was back to bed.  This time Bridget tucked her in.
Bridget wasn't about to leave willingly.  She was ready to stay with Sedona and take care of her.

Sunday Adventure of the Boring Kind

Tonight's adventure was a trip out to the Viera Wetlands.  It's a water reclamation facility, much like the Kachina Wetlands in Flagstaff, AZ.  The mission was to spot some alligators.  We found a variety of birds and a few alligators.  We named each of the alligators that you see in our pictures.  Sedona decided our trip was boring and was eager to head home.
We called these the lipstick ducks.  Their bills were bright pink.
We see cranes everywhere, but haven't seen them with babies this small.
Just a reminder to not go swimming.
Meet Anderson,
Allison,
and Arthur.  He was a big one!!!
Had to show you this guy too.  He was happy to see us....
leave.

Birthday Adventures

Today is Neal's birthday.  We decided to go check out the Merrit Island Wildlife Refuge.  It was a lot of fun.  The girls were scared of the alligators, but thrilled to see the manatees.

The first "wild life" we saw
The massive 'gators that we spied.
(look in the water near the reflection of the cloud)

This is a spoon-bill.
Rori spotted this snake.  We had to back the truck up to see it.

Looking for the manatees.

This one wanted to see who was around.

A tortoise.

Later this evening Neal and I went on a date.  After our yummy dinner at Skewer's we searched the GPS for a dessert place.  We found one called, Smiley's Ice Cream.

I kid you not.  The GPS was quite proud to deliver us to Smiley's.  This made our day.  We decided to go in search of some real ice cream and ended up at DQ.

Mail Call

Yesterday was a great day for mail.  First, a nice Fedex delivery lady brought me my new laptop.
A friend suggested I call her Clementine.

Then..... when I checked the USPS mail, I opened a package and it had this in it.

It's for the Harry Potter KAL.  I can't wait to start on the socks.

I found it!!!!

Sometimes, I think it's possible to loose something and not even know it till you find it again.  You see, I had lost my knitting mojo.  Yes, I knit on our drive down to Florida.  I even knit on my trip to Arizona.   But I hadn't knit since then.  It wasn't until Neal asked me why I wasn't knitting that I even realized I had stopped.  So, this week I made it a point to visit my "local yarn shop".

There were a few women inside knitting away and a couple that were reorganizing the yarn "wall".  No joke the yarn is stored in cubbies from floor to ceiling.  It's wonderful to just stand and stare at it.

I had a pattern in mind for a baby blanket.  The women helped me pick out a yarn and BOOM suddenly my knitting mojo was back.  All I could think about was casting on.  Thank you Neal, for asking me the one question I didn't know needed to be asked.  :)

Au revoir Atlantis

Last Friday the shuttle Atlantis shot up into space for the last time (at least under this administration).  The girls and I joined Neal at a park to watch the launch.

Sunday Night Adventure

A storm was blowing in as we went out for Sunday Night Adventure.  The plan was to spy some manatees, hit a beach park, and enjoy some ice cream.  The manatees were a no show, but we still enjoyed our time together.
Here are a few pics of the new member of our family.  She likes her new couch.
